what we do

We have the experience, the technology and the resources to provide the best possible medical care for your pet.

We’re proud to be a leader in providing minimally invasive procedures. We believe your pets should benefit from the same technology that humans have experienced for years- smaller incisions, faster recovery, and reduced pain.

INCLUDES

  • Laparoscopic spays
  • Rhinoscopy (nasal cavity evaluation)
  • Cystoscopy (urinary tract evaluation & bladder stone removal)
  • Gastrointestinal evaluation
  • Foreign body retrieval
  • Laparoscopic gastropexy (stomach tack)

ORTHOPEDICS

Directed by Dr. David Knox, our orthopedics department treats injuries and diseases of the bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons. While orthopedic surgery has been his field of special interest, some treatment may include weight management, exercise regimens, and physical therapy.

INCLUDE

  • Lameness evaluation
  • Fracture repair
  • Cranial cruciate ligament surgery
  • Spinal surgery
  • Arthroscopic surgery
  • Diagnosis and treatment of arthritis and growth abnormalities

AVIAN & EXOTIC CARE

Our staff understands that birds and other exotic animals need experienced care and handling. Dr. Jamie Lindstrom offers routine and surgical care for birds, rabbits, pocket pets, ferrets, reptiles, and other exotic pets. Just like with cats and dogs, annual examinations are recommended.

INCLUDES

  • Grooming
  • Surgery/Endoscopy
  • In-house complete blood work
  • Microchipping
  • DNA sexing
  • Infectious disease testing

BEHAVIORAL COUNSELING

In addition to addressing common problems such as house-soiling, anxiety, fears and phobias, we also encourage happy visits to alleviate your pet’s fear of coming to see us. We can also help match you to an appropriate breed of dog or cat before you take the leap into pet ownership.

INCLUDES

  • Pre-selection counseling
  • Puppy/Kitten visits
  • "Happy visits"
  • Problem visits

ACUPUNCTURE

According to ancient Chinese medical philosophy, disease is the result of an imbalance of chi, or life force, in the body. Acupuncture is believed to balance this energy, and thereby assist the body in healing and pain management.

WHAT IT DOES

  • Stimulates nerves
  • Increases blood circulation
  • Releases endorphins (natural "feel-good" hormone)
  • Relaxes muscles

HEARING TESTING

We use a non-invasive technique called BAER (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response) testing to diagnose deafness in dogs. It’s similar to how an EKG detects the electrical activity of the heart—a small handheld device called a BAERCOM records the electrical activity produced in the auditory pathway in response to an auditory (click) stimulus.

INCLUDES

  • Individual testing
  • Litter testing
  • OFA screening
  • Printed waveform results

TESTIMONIALS

Nancy Secrist

Having a repro specialist like Animal Clinic is invaluable and gives a breeder resources—I've had many finished Champions and continue to develop my 10 generation line with over 200 AKC titles. Having instant access to any dog I store has allowed me to breed to progeny in a way that suits my breeding style.

Andrea Hogben

Since 2003 ACN has maintained my vote for the best pet care in the tristate area. From routine wellness to highly specialized medicine, they’re a super responsive team for everything. I take great comfort in knowing they’re open 24 hours a day in case of emergency and genuinely care about the wellbeing of my four-legged family.
